Run Forrest Run

Is it me or does it seem that every other weekend that either Shawshank Redemption, A Few Good Men or the movie Independence Day is on TV? I find myself tuning in until my wife says "Isn't there something else on"? Another movie that seems to come across my channel guide is a familiar one to us all...Forrest Gump! The way that movie was written and how it is told in my opinion is pure genius. I do not want to bore you with the story line because most of you already know it. The movie is full of classic one liners that are now famous...Life's a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get...Me and Jenny goes together like peas and carrots. Yes these are some of the classic lines but there is still one line that I did not mention that all of you know of and it is this...RUN FORREST RUN!
Jenny coined that phrase to help Forrest understand that when trouble comes, just turn around in the opposite direction and run and that is exactly what Forrest did. I want you to know that before that phrase was ever mentioned at its first showing at the movie theater that the Word of God told us to do that very same thing. Numerous times in the scriptures you will find the phrase "flee" or "run from" things like, youthful desires and worshiping false gods. All of these things are summed up when the Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy in 1 Timothy 6:11 to "run from all evil things". The truth is, in our lives we ought to not be running towards the wrong things but rather turn from them. The Apostle Paul goes on to say in that same verse that we ought to chase after "Righteousness, Godly things, Love, Perseverance and Gentleness". The great thing about that is this, when we chase or run after those things, we are running after God! So lace up them jogging shoes, turn around and start heading in the right direction when danger comes. In doing so, you are hearing God say RUN ______________, RUN!
