A BAD Call

You don't have to be a football fan to have heard about the huge mess up that took place this past Monday night on Monday Night Football. As a matter of fact, my youngest daughter couldn't tell you the difference between a Packer or a Seahawk but because everyone was "Tweeting" about it, she all of a sudden became an NFL insider. While United States Embassys are being attacked and our US debt increases by the millions every day, you would think that all the talk around the water cooler at your work would be about more important things then a blown call on Monday Night Football...but it wasn't. I will not bore you with the long drawn out story of what took place other than the NFL referees have been locked out and not working due to money so the NFL hierarchy decided to allow other referees to call the games, many of which were not qualified to do so...which leads us to the past Monday night. On the last play of the game, the Seahawks threw a Hail Mary pass towards the endzone as the clock expired. Players from both teams jumped to catch the ball in an effort to cinch the victory for their team. Two men appeared at first to have come down with the ball but the defender had the ball more in his control while the offensive player simply had his hand on it. As these replacement referees came over to assess the play, one signaled Touchdown and the other signaled no catch...boy were they wrong. They mad a BAD CALL. Every radio station, television network and newspaper wrote about it, talked about it and complained about it. These two guys, both who just a few short weeks ago were off having "Real Jobs" now were faced with the fact that they just made the worst call of their lives...or did they? Football is just a game...Life is not. Each of you have the opportunity to make the BEST CALL you could ever make and that is to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. In Acts 26, The Apostle Paul was pleading his defense before King Agrippa to the point where in verse 28 the king said to Paul, " you almost persuaded me to be a Christian". The king made a BAD CALL because he refused Christ. The Worst Call you or I could ever make would be to never place our faith and trust in Jesus. Yes these referees made a BAD CALL this past Monday night and over time, it will pass and be long forgotten. It is great to know that they sure can make up for it on one that really matters and that call will last through eternity! What call are you going to make? See You @The River...Pastor John
